Blogging

Blogging: to write entries in, add material to or maintain a blog.

Where do I start my blog? What do I post on my blog? Where do I get my inspiration? All these are questions that I had before this post. All these are really simple questions. So why did I even ask? Simple, I didn’t know. I started my blog in May at wordpress.com for an Honors English project. Okay, question one answered. Next. What do I post? “Part of you report that you just wrote,” is what my teacher Ms. Gillmore told me. So I finally posted something. That still left me with one question, where do I get my inspiration? Answer: Looking at other blogs! I looked at tons of blogs throughout my journey to answer my question about inspiration. I’m sure that there are better blogs than mlhart.wordpress.com, jakethecake.wordpress.com, and thetrendsetter.wordpress.com, but I chose these three blogs for my inspiration. I chose mlhart because of her writings and the simplicity of her blog. I chose jakethecake for organization and his writings. I chose thetrendsetter because her topic and theme matched perfectly and how she sited her sources.

M.L. H’art is the author of mlhart.wordpress.com. This is my favorite blog of the three. H’art’s writings are down to earth. She writes about life in general. I read a lot of her writings. My two favorites are Counting On You and Addicted To Voicemail. Her stories are realistic. Her writings have inspired me to write from a realistic point of view. Another reason I like her blog is because of the simplicity. She does not have anything along the sides of her posts to distract her readers. The simplicity of the blog makes the writer seem more professional than just your average blogger.  Jakethecake is a blog created by Paul Hughes. Paul’s blog is my second favorite of the three blogs. The way Paul organized his blog is very inspirational to anyone who likes to have everything in categories. I noticed when you have a large category column on your blog; it is easier for the viewer to find what they are looking for. Hopefully, I will be able to use a large category column for my viewers. I noticed when Paul would receive a comment, he would reply. Replying is something that I hope I will be doing often. Paul’s writings inspired me to write as if an audience of all ages would read my posts. Jakethecake’s posts consist of poems. His poems are actually written for children. I read the poem No Killing But Kindness which made me smile. Although these poems are focused for children, adults love to read them. I’m sure that they enjoy the childish nature about them.

The author of thetrendsetter is Truly Curvaceous. This blog’s topic of fashion and the theme of a newspaper match perfectly. Everyday this blog has a new post; just like a newspaper has new articles. Thetrendsetter inspired me to match my topic and theme. If the topic is random, so shall be the theme. The blogger, Truly Curvaceous, sites her sources in a nice, simple way. Under or to the side of each picture is a hyperlink that says, “(Pic Source)”.  If I use pictures, I will be sure to site my pictures the same way. Hyperlinking makes your blog look clutter free.

In the end, blogging is easy. The questions you have about blogging can easily be answered. For inspiration, the easiest thing possible to find inspiration is to look at other bloggers blogs. Mlhart has inspired me to write realistically, jakethecake has inspired me to use categories, and thetrendsetter’s inspiration was to match my topic and theme.

Hello there.

Thanks for the review! I’m suffering from a bit of a creative block at the present time, hence the lack of poems of late. Good luck with your own blog!
